Shannon Ford New York, LLC. was founded in June 2008 by Shannon Dougherty. A graduate of the
University of Wisconsin Madison and FIT, Shannon received 2 degrees in fashion design and moved to New York City
in 1999 to pursue her career in the industry. Her first position was designing the Ninety line at Central Park West,
which was also her introduction to Missy, Petite and Large size sportswear. In 2001 she took a job to design for a
new collection called JTB. This allowed her to more focus on fashion and led her to design an urban collection in
the Junior market called Cream. With this opportunity she was doing runway shows, music videos and dressing celebrities
and TV hosts. In 2006 she was offered the Merchandiser position at Brittany Black and transitioned herself back
into the Missy and Large size markets. From this experience she gained a wonderful appreciation for her customers
and decided to launch her own collection to bring her vision of fashion to the masses.
Melissa is a 2004 graduate of The Laboratory Institute of Merchandising, with degrees in both Fashion Merchandising,
and Marketing. Since graduating she has worked for companies such as Koo’s Manufacturing (AG Jeans),
Depeche Mode NY (Fashion accessories) and Brittany Black (Woman’s sportswear). Through her position at
Brittany Black, she was given the opportunity to gain great knowledge on the Petites, Missy and Plus size sportswear
business. She is very excited to be a part in creating the Shannon Ford New York brand, and looks forward to applying
her knowledge, creativity and commitment to Shannon’s vision.
